The Toronto Maple Leafs look to have locked down their number-one goaltender for at least four more seasons.
The team announced on Monday morning that they have extended goaltender Jospeh Woll to a three-year contract starting with the 2025-2026 seasons. The value of the contract is $3.66M a season.

Woll was set to be the team’s starter this past season and finally take the crease, but injuries again led him to a reduced showing in both the regular season as well as the playoffs. He posted a 12-11-1 record with a 2.94 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 25 games during the regular season, and then 2-0 in the playoffs.
The Leafs were rolling with Woll in the playoffs, but his injury in Game 6 cost them dearly.
The contract is extremely fair for Woll who has earned the crease and a chance to run with it, the main issue is injuries here. He only has 39 games of NHL experience, with 25 of them coming last season. The fact that he is only 25 years old and has had so many injuries thus far gives a lot of people some concern.
It’s truly up to Woll to take care of himself and the Leafs training staff to put him in a good enough position to remain healthy. Expect another goaltending signing today to bolster the crease in case Woll is unable to run with it all season.
