The Toronto Maple Leafs won’t pick 23rd overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, instead trading their first-round pick to the Anaheim Ducks for picks 31 and 58.
The Leafs found themselves without a pick until Round 4 after their first-rounder, so moving back a few spots and adding a second-rounder makes sense. Toronto has traded high picks a ton recently, and clearly feel a need to deepen the prospect pool.
Many analysts agree this draft is deep in the late first and second rounds, and the Leafs seem to agree. Hopefully, they can get one of their top targets at 31 and add another quality prospect at 58.
Anaheim used the Leafs pick to select Stian Solberg, a prospect many Leafs fans were clamouring for.
We’ll have more once the Leafs select at 31, so stay tuned!
