The Toronto Maple Leafs closed out the regular season with a four-game losing streak. They hoped they could turn the tide in the opening game of their Round 1 series versus the Boston Bruins, but everything that could have gone wrong for Toronto absolutely did.
Between shaky goaltending from Ilya Samsonov, untimely open-net shots going off the post instead, and high-danger and high-quality opportunities getting thwarted by Jeremy Swayman, the Leafs lost a tough one as they were arguably the better team on the ice everywhere but the scoreboard.
