Leafs Game Recaps

Leafs Visual Recap R1G5: Leafs show some heart with Game 5 win, head back to Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs staved off elimination with a gutsy 2–1 Game 5 win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. Now down 3–2, the Leafs have planted the seeds of doubt in Boston who choked a 3–1 series lead to the Florida Panthers in the playoffs last year.

After such a horrible Game 4 performance put the Leafs down 3–1 in the series, Toronto showed some heart in Game 5, coming out flying in the first period and dominating the first 40 minutes. Joseph Woll came up big in the third and OT, establishing himself as the starter moving forward.

Game 6 will be played in Toronto, where the Leafs have gone 0–2 in the series.

Matthew Knies scored the OT winner, and Jake McCabe scored the opener six minutes in.
