2024 Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Rankings: Final list reveal

The first annual 6ix On Ice Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Rankings are now completed, and all the prospect profiles are now out in the world. Now here is the opportunity to peek behind the curtain at how the rankings went and how everyone voted. Let’s take a look:

How the Toronto Maple Leafs 2024 Prospect Rankings shook out

This year three of our writers were given a full set of every single Leafs prospect and asked to rank their top 10 and also give out two honourable mentions. The results were then totalled up, with tiebreakers being decided by the player who was on more total ballots.

Here is the full ranking:

Unsurprisingly, the vote was unanimous for the top two prospects. Easton Cowan naturally took the first spot with Fraster Minten taking the second spot. The 2024 first-round pick Ben Danford took third despite earning a sixth-place vote.

This is where things diverged substantially. Nikita Grebyonkin finished fourth, with a third, fifth, and sixth place vote. Topi Niemela took fifth, with a fourth, fifth, and seventh vote.

Of the 12 players who finished inside the ranking, six were defencemen, which goes to show the strength of the team’s blueline pipeline. Interesting as well is that for a team that has struggled for goaltending, two of the team’s top prospects were netminders in Dennis Hildeby and Artur Akhtyamov. While goaltending development is mostly voodoo, having two top goaltending prospects is a really good sign.
